GRAY HERE 2 STAY

We are into the full swing of Fall now.  I talked about beige during the summer and the monochrome look.

 So let’s stay with that idea.

Gray is my new favorite color for fall. It’s a neutral color and looks great in any shade or combination of shades.

I’m featuring a dress I picked up at H&M. It’s sleeveless and lightweight, so it can be worn in the spring and summer but, you can layer it with a sweater or jacket for fall.  For Example:

For those airline flights you could change up your shoes for comfort and wear sneakers.

I recently wore this on a flight and trust me I should have worn the Adidas!

I know they are different colors and the the dress has short sleeves,

but this gives you an idea of how it would look!

With that said there are so many different options to try. You could also add any color to this. I would suggest with jewelry or a purse!

BACK to the 90’S – Slip Dresses

 I know it has been awhile since my last post. We were in the midst of moving. What a chore!

Now, it’s back to the 90’s! The trend of the moment – Slip Dresses.  So big this summer.

 I found some cute ones in the magazines. They even accessorize with shoes.

My opinion is notice the model above can pull this off because she is younger.

 For most of us over the age of 40, 50, or even 60, there should probably be some adjustments.

I purchased this one at at a small boutique in Houston called Graceanna’s. It’s longer, two layers, so less clingy.

It was only $40.  For a trend that is my favorite price. If you don’t wear it often you didn’t waste a lot of money.

They can range a lot higher.

Spring Fashion Blooms

Spring is almost here. Actually for some of us it’s already started.

I am going to start this month featuring cabi fashions.  I recently went to a preview party given by one of their stylists. The new clothing line for Spring and Summer is here. These are the two pieces I purchased.  I love the striped tee it’s so in this year. You can wear it with anything!

I paired this tee with white cotton flared pants ( also in trend this season) as shown in the picture above. Then threw on the sweater.

Here is another thought about pairing this tee. What do you think? I like the off color of the pant.

The sweater was my other pick. What sold the sweater for me, was the zipper up the back. That adds a little edge (and the fact it was so light-weight).

I know I will get a lot of use of the sweater, especially in the air-conditioning this summer.

I also loved this blue sweater, again it is light-weight and it’s the back detail which makes it unique.

I also would like to feature Victoria Emerson Wrap Bracelets.  So cute! The pieces are made out of leather and have every color stone you can think of.  These wrap bracelets are so versatile and can be worn stacked. I am wearing the white leather wrap bracelet with a watch but you could add another small bracelet for a more stacked look.  Here it is in black too! I love both colors. They have so many more to choose from. So I think you should  go take a look!

Boots Are Made For Walking!

Welcome to 2016

This past year went by really fast.  It’s hard to believe a new year has begun.

My trend for January is boots, more specifically “Over The Knee” boots. While boots are always in style for necessity and warmth, this year the “OTK” are really big.  This months post is later than usual partly because the weather here in Texas has been warm and it was hard to get into the spirit of boots sooner. But the cooler temperatures have arrived (no snow) yeah.

I bought a pair to see if I would like them and I definitely do! You think of wearing boots with jeans, pants, etc. but, I see a lot of OTK with skirts and dresses like the photo above. While I cannot see myself in shorter skirt styles pairing my boots with this coat-type dress works really well.

If you stick with the darker colors, adding a bright color as an accessory is fun, for example this colorful scarf (gifted).

 Of course with a new year beginning Pantone, the global color expert, has their color of the year. This year they decided to go with two.  They have chosen pastel colors a shade of pink – Rose Quartz and light blue – Serenity. Both were seen on the runways for spring.

Right now these shades seem kind of spring-like but I like that they are taken from natural occurrences of nature for example:

Tennis & Sparkle Anyone?

Who remembers the tennis sweater? I was wearing it in junior high.  I guess that makes us children born in the 50’s and 60’s. Back then they were white sweaters with navy and burgundy stripes on the v-neck, sleeves, and across the bottom.

That was pretty much your only choice. They are back!!  Looking a bit different plus you can find them as sweaters, sweatshirts, and in different colors.

Now you have so many other choices.

I picked this one up in a specialty store in Houston.  I loved it at first glance.  It’s sweatshirt material and looks great with pants or a skirt, for daytime or nighttime.

 Since sparkle and sequins are also in for fall, I decided to pair the tennis sweatshirt I bought with this trend.  It’s a fun look.

Trench Coats & Dusters Oh, My!

Well it’s the season for coats and jackets. Layering is essential for moving from Summer to Fall.

I am loving the trench style coats they are showing. Actually some of them are more of a Duster type coat, many with no buttons, but longer in length.

I recently purchased this one at you won’t believe where, Forever 21. I thought that store was more geared to younger ages but it goes to show if you seek you will find!!

I purchased this coat online for $52.00 plus s&h but it was also on sale so it was barely over $50 total.

There were different colors but I like the tan (neutral) best. I figured it would be more versatile.

Transition To Fall

Hi Ladies,

You know it is almost the end of summer. However, here in Texas it is still really warm. I could keep showing styles for summer temperatures but for many the days and especially nights are becoming cooler.  So let’s talk about transition options.

I am loving two new Fall trends, one is carried over from the summer, which is the classic shirtdress.  They were shown all summer usually in a light color or white cotton. I just picked up a military green shirtdress, which is the 2nd of the two trends I mentioned.  It has been called the “Utilitarian”.  That can refer to uniform like. Anything in that green or khaki color is big for the season.

This dress is really versatile and can be worn with flat shoes for casual or have some fun with it.

  Or more edgey and fun add some chunky bootie type shoes

Here another idea. Let’s take this same dress and use it as a coat.  Fall styles have shown wearing a dress over pants.  In this instance it is similar to a classic trench, lightweight, for a typical fall day. Then to dress it up throw on some heels.  Again in the beige or nude color that is really in and makes you look taller and thinner in my opinion. And why not add a belt!

I picked up this dress at T J Maxx for $34.99 which I thought was a deal considering it’s a Kenneth Cole Reaction (with a price tag of $89.99) or similar here.
