Fall Layering ideas

Hey All,

It’s that time of year.  As the weather gets cooler you can still keep some styles but, update them by adding layers.

For example:

I posted this last year (Feb. 2016) when styling a dress over pants first started trending.

So let’s go with that and add:

A sweater, scarf, or both to update and change up this look.  How fun.

Note same mini dress and staying in the same color.  Add a scarf for flair and you have a new look.

A nice touch for cooler temps.

I saw something similar to this on a blog site:

It shows the same concept.

TIPS:

  • Add boots

  • Add a lightweight jacket

  • A cool hat!

See what else you can come up with!!

Until next time,

GRAY HERE 2 STAY

We are into the full swing of Fall now.  I talked about beige during the summer and the monochrome look.

So let’s stay with that idea.

Gray is my new favorite color for fall. It’s a neutral color and looks great in any shade or combination of shades.

I’m featuring a dress I picked up at H&M. It’s sleeveless and lightweight, so it can be worn in the spring and summer but, you can layer it with a sweater or jacket for fall.  For Example:

I am showing it here with a sweater and pumps or heels.

For those airline flights you could change up your shoes for comfort and wear sneakers.

I recently wore this on a flight and trust me I should have worn the Adidas!

Sneakers – Adidas

Here’s some examples I found on the web:

I know they are different colors and the the dress has short sleeves,

but this gives you an idea of how it would look!

With that said there are so many different options to try. You could also add any color to this. I would suggest with jewelry or a purse!

TIPS

  • Add a hat

  • Add a belt

  • Add a crop jacket (denim or leather)

STYLES 2 STAY

I started this blog a year ago. It’s funny how some of the trends have carried over from last summer to this summer.

First:  Athletic wear sneakers were the rage. They still are, and even more so.

Last year you saw a lot of Keds and Converse.

The shoes are getting a bit chunkier in style, like Addidas.

Some are even platform.

Second:   Last year all white was huge. It still is now, along with monochromatic styles.

2016 brings higher waist pants and lots of white button downs.

Third:   Culottes came back with  new lengths.  Again, they are still showing in all the ads and magazines.

This 2016 version is paired with the over the shoulder top, very big this year.

Which I think is nice considering all you have to do is change up part of the outfit and some accessories to make them look new again.

I have seen these pieces cost much more but why not pay less. I guess a good thing is they are  still around. You get much more wear for the money.

Until next time

BACK to the 90’S – Slip Dresses

Photo on 5-27-16 at 11.08 AM

I know it has been awhile since my last post. We were in the midst of moving. What a chore!

Now, it’s back to the 90’s! The trend of the moment – Slip Dresses.  So big this summer.

I found some cute ones in the magazines. They even accessorize with shoes.

My opinion is notice the model above can pull this off because she is younger.

For most of us over the age of 40, 50, or even 60, there should probably be some adjustments.

I purchased this one at at a small boutique in Houston called Graceanna’s. It’s longer, two layers, so less clingy.

It was only $40.  For a trend that is my favorite price. If you don’t wear it often you didn’t waste a lot of money.

They can range a lot higher.

Love the neutral color.

This is one of my favorite places to shop.

It would be fun to accessorize with shoes, purses, and jewelry. For example:

Back in May I had a suggestion of chunky jewelry for summer.  What a great idea. Metallic shoes also a plus.

So fun to see what else you can come up with.  Send me your ideas. Would love to hear them.

Monochrome Looks for May – Daytime

Photo on 3-17-16 at 8.28 AM

Gals, can you believe it’s May already?

Where has the year gone? It’s getting warm outside and colors for summer are getting lighter.

Trending now are outfits in monochrome colors.

Most often in beige, tan, or greys.  Since both are neutral and light shades, they make a great choice.

You can do so much with these neutral colors.

Last month one of the comments I received was to show ideas for shorts or capris. So I decided to show these together.

Here’s some monochrome sets to try:

The shorts are Khaki & Company ( from Sam’s Club) similar & similar here.

The tops can be any tank or t-shirt.

The first sweater I have featured previously: Cabi, the other I picked up at Burlington.

I like the idea of light-weight sweaters because air conditioning can be cool indoors sometimes.

They also can be taken off,  so more versatile.

TIPS

  • Add bright color accessories

  • Try sneakers or any sandal to dress it up or down

  • Use mixed textures of similar hue
