Check into Spring!!

(from InStyle)

It’s April almost May and spring is officially here.

My favorite trend is the gingham print.

According to the ad from InStyle Magazine, many options are out!

From clothing to shoes and accessories, you can see various colors of gingham print.

Here’s some of my favorites.

Traditional black & white:

PANT:

( from Express)

SKIRTS

(from J. Crew)

These are shown with different color pieces.

Black and white is so neutral you can add any color to it!

Also pastel colors which are so spring/summer like.

SHOES:

(Tennis shoes from Tretorn, sandels from DSW)

So, whether you like all over gingham or just one piece, there are great options to choose from.

Holiday Fashion Time

It’s the Holidays!!

Who doesn’t love this time of year?  Time really went by fast.

TOO FAST!

Last year I attempted my (not too perfected crafty side), and decided to decorate my dress form,

(2016)

Not too bad for the first time! So this year I am trying again.

Thought I would change it up a bit.

So, you know I like to add accesories.

Of course anything red!

Celebrating New Years Eve is different for everyone. You can dress up or be in casual but, festive attire.

I am showing casual which most people have already in their wardrobe.

Simple black skinny jeans and an over-sized blazer can be dressed up by adding a velvet tank.

Velvet has been a huge trend this season.

(Old Navy $5.00 UNBELIEVABLE)

This outfit is so inexpensive but looks great.

A shiny metallic tank would also look amazing.

Add some fun jewelry and there you have it!

So, heres to the New Year!

Hope ya’ll have a great one!!!

Add Accessories

Hello Fashionistas,

I hope your summer is going well.

We have covered lots of different trends & styles but briefly touched on accessory wear.

So let’s do that.

Corset belts

Super big this summer.

I purchased this one at a shop in Rice Village.  I love going to Graceanna’s  for trendy new styles.

They usually have the items at a lower price; which is good because styles tend to go out relatively soon.

I picked this one up for $19.99

similar here

The belt cinches you in to give a defined waist.

It’s definitely slimming.

Try it with:

 Short summer dress

Add a hat

OR:

a Midi or Maxi dress.

Throw on a denim jacket.

You could wear any of these with sneakers, sandals, mules, or heels.

So many choices.

Now if you prefer you can find alternatives to a belt.

Say a corset top similar to this one @ H&M.

Or even a skirt also from H&M!

Super affordable and so so cute!

***********************************************************

Tassels

Jewelry with tassels are taking stage.

Colorful and fun you see them everywhere.

I love these new black ones that were a gift.

Here are also some I found at H&M !!

Similar here

I also saw some really bright color earrings at

Elaine Turner.

Until next time

April Is here!!

It’s finally Spring!

Love this time of year!  Flowers are blooming and no more snow!!!

In eyeing trends for Spring, I’m exited that the off-shoulder & statement sleeve is staying.

Last month I featured that, if you recall. What I want to point out additionally,

is that  the pinstripe/poplin shirt sometimes commonly referred to menswear,

is huge.

Note the buttons down one sleeve very chic. This top shows some shoulder but not a lot.

I picked up this shirt at Target from the

“Who What Wear” collection. It was less than $30. Wow, what a deal!!

Note the detail on the sleeve.

(Similar here)

So you can’t wrong with a cotton or poplin striped shirt.

  • Dress it up

  • Wear with jeans

  • Or even shorts!

New Year-Old Style

photo-on-10-26-16-at-2-57-pm

Welcome to 2017

To illustrate my headline for January, here is my take on New Year-Old Style.

Some styles do return. For example:

  • Bomber jackets

I like the idea of wearing it with a pleated midi skirt (trending now).  Here are some examples I found.

    scan

prime

These are very 80’s. I remember having one. I’m sure many of you will too.

The really cool thing is I found a bomber jacket on sale at Nordstrom Rack for only $16.99. I also have a copper-color midi skirt.

So for me this was a really inexpensive outfit to put together. All you do is add a T-shirt.

p1040176I chose black, but that is just a personal preference. White would look great too.

 Similar jacket

This jacket is very light-weight so it could be worn anytime of the year.

You can throw on a necklace or pin a broach on the jacket. I’ve even seen stick-on emblems or even an embroidered look.

Add heels, booties, or even tennis shoes.

p1040188

I even think wearing black fish-net hose would be awesome.  I see they too are back in style!

And with staying with the fishnet hose, let’s try something unexpected.

Remember this? I posted for a little dressy casual look back in the fall.

P1040010

How about this? Adding black fishnet hose gives it an edge.

So, go see what combination you can put together!

It is probably not one of my favorite colors but, I could find a way to incorporate it with accessories.

It’s also the time of year to be festive. Let’s get to another new trend.

My style for December 2016 is bell sleeves. So fun especially at Christmas (get it – bells!)

I found this amazing blouse at Belk. I thought it was super cute.

It also has a peplum  bottom, definitely flattering on everyone.

I’m also showing some other bell-sleeve outfits especially for the holidays.

Monochrome Looks for May – Daytime

Photo on 3-17-16 at 8.28 AM

Gals, can you believe it’s May already?

Where has the year gone? It’s getting warm outside and colors for summer are getting lighter.

Trending now are outfits in monochrome colors.

Most often in beige, tan, or greys.  Since both are neutral and light shades, they make a great choice.

You can do so much with these neutral colors.

Last month one of the comments I received was to show ideas for shorts or capris. So I decided to show these together.

Here’s some monochrome sets to try:

P1040053

This picture is showing neutral light greys

Below is an example using shades of beige – tan.

P1040038

The shorts are Khaki & Company ( from Sam’s Club) similar & similar here.

The tops can be any tank or t-shirt.

The first sweater I have featured previously: Cabi, the other I picked up at Burlington.

I like the idea of light-weight sweaters because air conditioning can be cool indoors sometimes.

They also can be taken off,  so more versatile.

TIPS

  • Add bright color accessories

  • Try sneakers or any sandal to dress it up or down

  • Use mixed textures of similar hue

Let’s Layer

Hi, remember back in Junior & High School ( this is for us baby boomers) there was a actually a dress code that did not allow girls to wear pants to school. Maybe not all schools but definitely mine in the Northeast. A common practice in the winter season was walking to school with a pair of pants under a dress or skirt.  What a drag that was because once you got to school you would have to change. But at the same time warmth was a priority.

Who thought this combination could become a fashion trend? Well it did.

I saw this in a recent posting and thought how cute!

Worn-Over-Pants-Under-Warm-Jacket

It definitely looks different than I remember!!

Also, shorter length dresses and skirts are back but, I believe I’m too old to wear one. I set out to put a similar look together.

I decided not to add the coat and hat (let’s make it simple.)

So after some changes I went with this.

P1030758

Jeans – Gap     Dress – H&M      Shoes – Nine West (similar)

What do you think?

Jeans are always a classic so I added this Mini dress from H&M (which is now on sale).

It’s mixing two styles to create a cool different look. I added the low heel pumps to look more modern. You could substitute for wedge heels.

Some could wear the dress alone, I just chose not to. I like the look. It works for in-between weather especially with Spring on the way!

TIPS

  • Look outside the box

  • Keep with transitional pieces

  • Have fun with it

Boots Are Made For Walking!

Welcome to 2016

This past year went by really fast.  It’s hard to believe a new year has begun.

My trend for January is boots, more specifically “Over The Knee” boots. While boots are always in style for necessity and warmth, this year the “OTK” are really big.  This months post is later than usual partly because the weather here in Texas has been warm and it was hard to get into the spirit of boots sooner. But the cooler temperatures have arrived (no snow) yeah.

P1030749

I bought a pair to see if I would like them and I definitely do! You think of wearing boots with jeans, pants, etc. but, I see a lot of OTK with skirts and dresses like the photo above. While I cannot see myself in shorter skirt styles pairing my boots with this coat-type dress works really well.

P1030734

(These boots are Bucco from – Rue La La $59)

If you stick with the darker colors, adding a bright color as an accessory is fun, for example this colorful scarf (gifted).

Version 2

Of course with a new year beginning Pantone, the global color expert, has their color of the year. This year they decided to go with two.  They have chosen pastel colors a shade of pink – Rose Quartz and light blue – Serenity. Both were seen on the runways for spring.

th

Right now these shades seem kind of spring-like but I like that they are taken from natural occurrences of nature for example:

(taken from my vacation at Lake Tahoe)

It will definitely  be fun to see what styles emerge from this new choice of color.

Tennis & Sparkle Anyone?

Who remembers the tennis sweater? I was wearing it in junior high.  I guess that makes us children born in the 50’s and 60’s. Back then they were white sweaters with navy and burgundy stripes on the v-neck, sleeves, and across the bottom.

il_570xN.563434297_n1ld

That was pretty much your only choice. They are back!!  Looking a bit different plus you can find them as sweaters, sweatshirts, and in different colors.

Now you have so many other choices.

I picked this one up in a specialty store in Houston.  I loved it at first glance.  It’s sweatshirt material and looks great with pants or a skirt, for daytime or nighttime.

Since sparkle and sequins are also in for fall, I decided to pair the tennis sweatshirt I bought with this trend.  It’s a fun look.

This is how I styled it:

Since this particular top would not be easily found I searched for other choices, (love the hat also)

or here

The black sequin skirt was a previous purchase but this one is similar.

The pants are NYDJ, black with sequin tuxedo strip down the leg shown here.

TIPS:

  • Sequins for daytime

  • Be Unconventional

  • Accessorize with hats, belts, and fun shoewear
